| A History of Medequip. Dennis had participated in several short-term mission trips with a local building team (Horace Marlowe and Robert Harris) to Paraguay where a mobile medical clinic was a significant part of the ministry. In an attempt to help the physician, Dr. Norival Trinidade, Jr, obtain needed equipment, Dennis asked Jim Moore for help. Slowly over the next few months, other opportunities to provide equipment seemed to come from nowhere. Add to that was the sight of a warehouse full of junked machines still useful, but inappropriate for use here in the USA and a ministry was born. The Lord gave Jim and Dennis the desire to serve and put in our path Rick Wood and the ministries involved in Technical Exchange for Christian Healthcare, Inc. (TECH). By partnering with these ministries, MedEquip Missions have placed much needed, refurbished, appropriate, medical equipment in several countries on five continents. Obviously there will be a need for doctors, nurses, physician assistants, lab techs, etc. to keep Christian hospitals and clinics functioning in third world countries. A weakness in medical ministries is the lack of skills biomedical technologists bring in maintaining and repairing equipment. Jim fixed equipment in his basement and Dennis gave it away as quick as possible. While working on a small project in southern India, they called new friends in TECH. Jim picking up a transformer from World Medical Missions, was offered a job in their biomed shop. Letting MedEquip Missions dissolve was discussed, but after prayer they decided to continue operations. God has blessed MedEquip Missions. Dennis found that he could no longer give the appropriate time to family, job and MedEquip Missions in 2001. August 10, 2001 he left a very good employer and brother in the LORD, Dr. Dement, and with his wife Cindy, stepped out in faith. MedEquip Missions depends totally on donations of friends, family and churches for the financial support needed for the ministrys daily function and personal needs. It is an exciting time. God has shown Himself true and faithful. |
